To follow on from yesterday’s post, I thought I’d let you know what I’m writing – or, more likely, what I’m planning to write.
First up, I’ll start with something I’ve already got underway. A series of books for children. My nephew, the book’s protagonist and the reason I decided I would start with a book series for children, inspired this. I thought, why not write about the adventures he and his dog – Gus the pug – could go on? Following this, I’ve now got storyboards mapped out, one of my friends is doing the illustrations, and – soon enough – it’ll all come together.
I’m hoping, once it’s all done, I can share the writing, editing and completed process with you.
My next thing is an actual short story. I have a basic plot and characters mapped out, I just need to research, get my ideas for chapters down and actually start writing. I think this book will be aimed at young adults and it will, in part, draw on my own experiences.
(I’ll write a post about this closer to the end of Blogtober).
Of course, with everything you write, there’s going to be pitfalls. I’ve spent months not writing because the voice in the back of my mind tells me I can’t, it won’t be good enough, it’s not worth doing.
You know what? That doesn’t matter anymore. Writers of any ability get that little panic in their minds but it doesn’t stop them so, though I don’t think I’m anywhere in the same league, I won’t let it stop me. Once I defeat the hurdle of fruitless job searching, I can get my writers head on. It’s scary to think that, one day, my writing will be out in the world. Honestly, though, I can’t wait for that moment.
Enough about me…. What are you writing? Are you attempting Nanowrimo this year? Any advice to a wannabe writer?
