If you’re not making banana bread, playing Animal Crossing or obsessed with TikTok at the moment, odds are (like me) you’re probably making your way through the selection of movies, TV shows and original content on Disney+.
I’ve always loved settling down with a Disney movie and, right now, I feel like the comfort and joy that these movies and TV shows bring is much needed. That’s why, in amongst my usual book reviews and new Gratitude Diaries series, I thought I’d bring you a post all about things I recommend you watch on Disney+.
Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings
Even though I’m terribly inexperienced where anything romantic is concerned (you’ll probably know this if you’ve read my dating post), I’m a sucker for a good love story. Fairy Tale Weddings combines good love stories with another love of mine: the Disney parks.
The series sees a variety of couples get engaged, get married and renew their vows in several Disney locations. Not only is it interesting to see how weddings come together in Disney, it is also breathtaking to watch the weddings take place.
(I challenge you not to cry whilst watching this).
The Incredibles 2
For a lot of us, this current situation has meant that we’re spending a lot of time with family. The Incredibles 2 is a good mix of humour, heart and heroes.
The sequel to the original film sees the Parr family adjusting to new roles: Helen is off catching a supervillain whilst Bob faces the challenge of stay-at-home parenting. It’s exciting and action packed so it definitely appeals to the whole family.
The Imagineering Story
When I visited Walt Disney World, Florida last year, I was mesmerised by the entire experience and the work that goes on behind the scenes to bring the magic to life, something The Imagineering Story takes an in depth look at.
The mini-series looks at the history and creation of the Disney theme parks and attractions around the world. It’s interesting to watch and definitely conjures up the feelings of sheer excitement you experience when visiting a Disney Park.
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
Disney or not, you can’t argue with a classic. That’s why I suggest you take yourself right back to the beginning with Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs, Walt Disney’s first full length animated feature film.
The film sees an exiled princess make her part in the household of seven dwarfs. Whilst the animation has improved significantly since this film’s release, you can’t deny that it is a beautiful film and the catchy songs will stick with you for ages.
Life is an emotional rollercoaster and no film tells explores this better than Inside Out, a recent offering from Pixar.
The film sees young Riley’s emotions – Joy, Fear, Anger, Disgust and Sadness – conflict on how best to navigate a new city, house and school. It’s funny, thoughtful and sensitive.
I’m constantly nostalgic so revisiting classic Disney Channel has only made this side of me more present. Hannah Montana combines fame, family and friendship to make what was the highest rated show in Disney Channel history.
The series looks at the life of Miley Stewart, normal girl by day pop-singing sensation Hannah Montana by night, and her family. It’s funny, musical and sensitive at times.
(Plus, even now, you can’t argue that the soundtrack is incredible).
So, there we have it, my Disney+ recommendations. I could have filled this post with things to watch but, not only would it have been the longest blog post ever written, I think the most important thing about streaming services like this is that it’s ultimately your decision what you choose to watch.
What have you been watching on Disney+? What would you recommend? I’d love to chat in the comments
