I’ll be honest, until I started working from home, I’d never listened to a podcast before. I always thought I didn’t have the attention span for them, or the interest in them, but (apparently) it only took a global pandemic for me to realise podcasts are not only quite interesting, they are also the perfect way to forget about what’s going on around you and engage with all kinds and weird and wonderful topics.
So, in the spirit of my newfound love of spoken word audio, I thought I’d share a list of 5 podcasts you should be listening to right now (in my opinion).
Shagged, Married, Annoyed
This podcast series began in February 2019 and follows comedian Chris Ramsey and his wife – podcaster, author and Instagrammer – Rosie. They chat about life, annoyances, relationships, raising their son Robin, growing up and all things in between. They also have the occasional question from a celebrity and share weird and wonderful stories and questions from listeners.
Shagged, Married, Annoyed was my first venture into the world of podcasts and I’m not disappointed. I love comedy (definitely missing the local comedy venues for sure) so this podcast is definitely up my street. It’s also really nice to hear Chris and Rosie talking to each other – and about each other – no holds barred.

Phone A Friend with George Ezra and Ollie MN
This podcast began in December 2019 and follows one of my favourite artists – and humans in general – George Ezra and his lifelong friend Ollie MN. They chat about what they’re going through, to encourage listeners to start their own conversations.
Phone A Friend is thought provoking and important with a bit of humour and plenty of heart. Lockdown has made me realise just how important looking after my mental and physical health is and things like this podcast also remind me to check in with my nearest and dearest.

Crime Junkie
This podcast started in December 2017 and follows various true crime stories around the world. The podcast stemmed from one of its creators’ work with Crime Stoppers, a community program that allows people to provide anonymous information about criminal activity.
Aside from books, baking and whatever else I’m interested in, (like a lot of people) I’m fascinated by true crime. Crime Junkie can make you feel a bit uneasy at times but it’s a fascinating listen.

TED Talks Daily
This podcast started in October 2019 and gives us the series of talks in audio form. Much like TED Talks, the podcast covers all kinds of topics from AI, Zoology and everything in between.
Ted Talks Daily changes your perspective, ignites your curiosity and you might even learn something new!

Off Menu with Ed Gamble and James Acaster
This podcast started in December 2018 and has comedians Ed Gamble and James Acaster inviting a famous face to their magical restaurant, where they share their favourite starter, main course and desserts.
It’s no secret I love food (a little too much, I’ve realised since lockdown began 😬!) so this podcast is right up my street. It’s an interesting premise and it definitely leaves some food for thought!

Do any of you listen to podcasts? What podcasts would you recommend? I’d love to chat in the comments 😊.
