The Great British Bake Off: Season 11, Episode 4 – My Thoughts

It’s that time again, another episode of The Great British Bake Off. Last week, the bakers got stuck in to soda bread, battled rainbow bagels and crafted bread plaques.

This week was the tastiest week of all (in my opinion): chocolate week. I think things are starting to really heat up in the tent…not just because of the weather!

As with my previous posts, I’ll talk about the bakers, the challenges and the result. SPOILERS AHEAD FOR THE GREAT BRITISH BAKE OFF, SEASON 11 EPISODE 4.

The bakers

As I’ve said previously, my opinion on the bakers will change as the show goes on.

This week, I’m loving Linda, Laura and Mark.

So far, I’m thinking Mark, Linda and Peter.

The challenges

The fourth week was Chocolate Week (an ideal week that, I reckon) and, as always, the bakers took on the Signature, Technical and Showstopper challenges.

𝒮𝒾𝑔𝓃𝒶𝓉𝓊𝓇𝑒 𝒞𝒽𝒶𝓁𝓁𝑒𝓃𝑔𝑒

For the Signature Challenge, the bakers were asked to make brownies. Some of them looked delicious and others, well, others looked like – according to my Mum and one of my mates (who watches – and frantically texts – along with me each week!), though I’m inclined to agree – a car crash.

𝒯𝑒𝒸𝒽𝓃𝒾𝒸𝒶𝓁 𝒞𝒽𝒶𝓁𝓁𝑒𝓃𝑔𝑒

For the Technical Challenge, the bakers were asked to make babka. Some were dodgy and dense, others pretty good.

𝒮𝒽𝑜𝓌𝓈𝓉𝑜𝓅𝓅𝑒𝓇 𝒞𝒽𝒶𝓁𝓁𝑒𝓃𝑔𝑒

For their Chocolate Week Showstopper Challenge, the bakers were asked to make a white chocolate celebration cake. Some were beautiful and delicious, others were a bit dense…even raw!

The result

As I always say, this was a tough one but the results were:

⭐️ Star Baker: Mark

👋🏻 Out: Sura

This week has been a bit messy, that’s for sure. Usually you see the stand out winner each week, but I think the pressure (and the heat) of the tent got to more than a few of the bakers.
