The Great British Bake Off: Season 11 Episode 6 – My Thoughts

Here we are again, another episode of The Great British Bake Off! Apart from Music Mondays, this is definitely my favourite day of the week!

Last week, the bakers were put to the test making pastry, attempting to perfect pasties, elevate eclairs and craft caged tarts.

This week, on the show’s 100th episode, there’s a NEW set of challenges for a week I don’t think has been attempted in the tent before: Japanese Week!

As with my previous posts, I’ll talk about the bakers, the challenges and the results. SPOILERS AHEAD FOR THE GREAT BRITISH BAKE OFF, SEASON 11 EPISODE 6.

The bakers

As I’ve said previously, my opinion on the bakers will change as the show goes on.

This week, I’m loving Mark, Lottie and David.

The challenges

The sixth week of the competition was Japanese Week and, as always, the bakers took on the Signature, Technical and Showstopper challenges.

𝒮𝒾𝑔𝓃𝒶𝓉𝓊𝓇𝑒 𝒞𝒽𝒶𝓁𝓁𝑒𝓃𝑔𝑒

For the Signature Challenge, the bakers were asked to make 8 steamed buns. They were all very cute, you can definitely tell it’s getting closer to the final as the standard has improved.

𝒯𝑒𝒸𝒽𝓃𝒾𝒸𝒶𝓁 𝒞𝒽𝒶𝓁𝓁𝑒𝓃𝑔𝑒

For the Technical Challenge, the bakers were tasked with making matcha crepe cakes. The interesting challenge produced interesting results.

For the Japanese Week Showstopper, the bakers were asked to create kawaii cakes. There were some crazy, cute cakes in this round – for sure.

The result

Things are getting tougher at this stage, as the end ( 😭) of the competition inches nearer. It was a tough one but the results were:

⭐️ Star Baker: Lottie

👋🏻 Out: Mark

Not going to lie, I’m gutted with this result – not just because I had Mark in the group sweep. Saying that, it just shows how tough the competition is – and has always been! Next week, the tent has gone all 80s!
