Music Mondays #41

Unlike the last post, which was a while ago now, I’m no longer enjoying sunny Spain. Instead, I’ve swapped the sun for gloomy days and darker nights. It’s not the best weather but it just means I can get cosy with a book or a playlist, so I shouldn’t complain really.

In case you’ve forgotten (because I think I have, considering it’s been a while!), I use these posts to share 5 tracks I’ve been listening to and loving at the moment.

Gang of Youths, the angel of 8th ave.

After I saw them at a festival a few weekends a go, I’ve been listening to the Australian indie rockers on repeat.

This song, taken from their latest EP total serene, is indie rock at its best. It’s thumping drums, loud guitar and gripping vocals which are even better live if you ever get to see them on a stage (I’d highly recommend doing so if you can).

The Vaccines, El Paso

Easily one of my favourite bands and live acts, I was more than happy that the West London indie-rock band returned with a new album last week.

This song, taken from their latest album Back in Love City, might be a bit different from their usual but it’s one of those songs you can’t help but listen to on repeat and — provided I manage to get tickets (fingers crossed!) —- I can’t wait to hear it live.

Miles Kane, Don’t Let It Get You Down

After this went down a storm when the Liverpool singer-songwriter sang it live, I haven’t stopped listening to it.

This song, a teaser for his soon to be released fourth album Change The Show, is a catchy, saxophone filled indie anthem that will definitely shake any (almost) winter blues away.

Lorde, Mood Ring

After Melodrama soundtracked my summer, I was made that she returned this year with another fantastic album.

This song, from her latest album Solar Power, is a gorgeous song with a summery feel to it.

Sports Team, Happy (God’s Own Country)

After seeing them live at a festival recently, there’s no denying that the London band are worth the hype.

This song, released in April, is a high energy indie-rock anthem that’ll have you dancing whether you’re in a festival crowd or your living room.
