Music Mondays #42

I might’ve spent the weekend either drinking or hungover but, as it’s Monday, it’s back to business as usual.

I might be in a bit of a reading slump right now but I’m definitely not in a slump Music wise. Whilst there wasn’t much choice when I was thinking of my favourite albums of 2020, I think I’ll have a problem narrowing my favourite albums of this year down. Anyway, before I get ahead of myself, here are 5 tracks I’ve been listening to (and loving) recently.

Liz Lawrence, Simple Pleasures

I saw the Warwickshire born singer-songwriter, guitarist and producer live in Manchester a while back and — since then — she’s an artist I’ve listened to on repeat.

This song, taken from her latest album The Avalanche, is a moody, indie track with a catchy hook.

Spector, No One Knows Better

The London band are one of the acts I’ll be seeing live before 2020 is up and, if their little teasers of the latest album are anything to go by, I’m very excited for this one.

This song, taken from their upcoming album Now or Whenever, is an indie-rock track with moody vocals and captivating instrumentals.

The Vaccines, Jump Off The Top

Although I couldn’t get tickets for the gig in Liverpool, I’m looking forward to seeing them live next year (something to look forward to!).

From their latest album, this song is an upbeat indie anthem which I’m sure will go down well in front of a crowd.

Martha Gunn, Undone

In the spirit of this being a Music Mondays post full of new releases, it’s only right I shout out the Brighton band and their new album.

This song, taken from their album Something Good Will Happen, is an indie track full of vocal harmonies and thumping electric instrumentals.

Sea Girls, Sick

I’ve not seen the London based band live before but there’s no denying that they are an exciting indie act that we should be paying attention to.

This song, a teaser of their upcoming album, is a high energy indie anthem that I think will go down well live.
