This Monday was a little bit special as, with great reluctance, I’m another year older (not wiser — though I have learnt a few things).
I’ll probably spend the evening in some sort of existential crisis so, before that happens, I thought I’d share 5 tracks I’ve been listening to and loving recently.
Pixey, Free to Live in Colour
Where I can, I love to champion people from my hometown and Pixey — who I have been listening to a lot at the moment — is another example of the brilliant music scene in Liverpool.
The single, from her EP of the same name, is a vibrant indie-pop song about being in the music industry. It’s a soft, woozy tune that you can’t help but listen to on repeat.
Alt J, U&Me
Alt J are a band I’ve loved for a while but, after a gig of theirs got cancelled and hasn’t been rescheduled, I have yet to see them live.
Luckily, they’ve treated me (and other loyal fans) to their new single. The single, released earlier this month, is full of good vibes and I think it would be brilliant to listen to in the sun (though British weather might have other ideas).
Matilda Mann, Glass Ceiling
I reviewed a track from the London singer-songwriter a while back so it’s no wonder I was all over this track.
This track, released earlier this month, is an easy to listen to indie song that you can’t help but listen to on repeat.
Sam Fender, Spit of You
I was lucky to see the Newcastle singer live at a festival recently which proved he is, as the radio stations say, one to watch.
This song, released today, feels a bit different to his usual offerings as it’s a softer, more acoustic sounding track.
The Courteeners, Hanging Off Your Cloud
Over the weekend, I saw the Courteeners so — as seems custom when I go to a concert — I’ve been listening to them on repeat since.
This song, from their album released in 2019, is a softer song than their usual but it still features Liam Fray’s distinctive vocals and catchy instrumentals that the band are known for.
What have you been listening to at the moment? I’d love to chat and share recommendations! 😊.
