First Play Friday: ‘Open Up’ – Geowulf

It’s November already and, even though part of me is struggling to get my head around there only being a month left of 2021, I’m looking forward to what music gets released as the year draws to a close.

Previous tracks featured in these posts include include ‘I Did It To Myself’ by Dakota Jones, ‘Powerhouse’ by Stranger Girl, ‘Safe Bet’ by Cucamaras, ‘Fall Away’ by Rowdy Outsider, ‘The Absence of You’ by the Islas, ‘I Only Party (w my Baby)’ by SLUGS, ‘Watching Cartoons’ by La Luz, ‘Blame It’ by Marlow, ‘Perfect Design’ by Mason Rose Gray, ‘Cosmic Saturation’ by The Velveteins , ‘Matters’ by Methyl Ethel, ‘Hard Not to Love You’ by Zola Courtney, ‘one hand on the steering wheel the other sewing a garden’ by Ada Lea , ‘Tiptoeing’ by Hope Tala and ‘it’s good to be back’ by Metronomy.

For the sixteenth post in the series, I’m spotlighting ‘Open Me Up’ by Geowulf.

On this track, the duo show off their country style with a track full of twangy guitars and emotional, soft vocals.

Regarding the track, Star Kendrick says “It’s a raw song for me that tells a personal story but it’s also one of my favourites we’ve done so far.”

The track, which teases a glimpse into their upcoming EP, is accompanied by a video which captures the country feel of the track perfectly.

It is a raw song yet there’s an easy going, laidback feel to the song which makes it a brilliant track to unwind with during these colder winter nights.
