In case you missed it, I posted My Favourite Albums of 2021 on the blog yesterday and it got me excited about the year ahead for music. Covid depending, I have one concert and a music festival abroad as well as countless gigs I had been looking forward to way back in 2020 and 2021. As well as this, I’m looking forward to listening to new albums and artists this year – which I’m sure I’ll keep you in the loop for on the blog.
So, without further ado, let’s get into the first Music Mondays post of the new year. As usual, I’ll share 5 tracks I’ve been listening to and loving recently.
Sorry, Cigarette Packet
I have my sister to thank for this one as she played this a lot last year, proving I’m not always one step ahead when it comes to music and who to listen to.
The track is trippy alt-rock which is undeniably catchy, it’s a bit different to what I gravitate towards but – once I heard it the first time – I haven’t stopped playing it.
The Academic, Kids (Don’t End Up Like Me)
Now for a band I’ve listened to before many times but haven’t seen live.
The track is more of the same cheery, indie-pop with thumping drums and soaring guitar.
Dirty Nice, Paint Your Nails Blue
A second new artist on the playlist!
The track is an easy to listen to, acoustic filled track that is a nice dose of optimism for the first month and beyond.
Spill Tab (featuring Gus Dapperton), Velcro
I played the living daylights out of Spill Tab’s tracks last year, and also Gus Dapperton’s 2021 album, so it’s no wonder this track is on my first Music Mondays post of the year.
The track is laced with gorgeous vocal harmonies and gradually builds into a lively alt-pop track I’m sure you won’t be able to stop listening to.
Laura Elliot, Grass Stains
I never thought I’d say this but I actually have TikTok to thank for the last track of the week.
The track is a bluesy acoustic track that gradually builds to show off Elliot’s fantastic vocals.
What have you been listening to at the moment? I’d love to chat and share recommendations! 😊.
