Monthly Wrap-Up: January

We’ve (almost) done it! January is widely regarded as the longest (yet somehow quickest) and saddest month of the year. Whilst there were moments when I felt down, I’ve realised now more than ever that I’m at my best with a good set of people around me and things to keep me occupied.

I’ve adjusted to hybrid working, have settled in brilliantly in my new home, went to my first gig of 2022 (his track features on this week’s Music Mondays post!) and I’m enjoying feeling more confident in myself.

I watched a fair bit of TV this month because it was far too cold to not be bundled up in blankets with snacks! I was massively late to the party but I watched and enjoyed/cringed at both seasons of Emily in Paris.

I also raced through the first two series of The Young Offenders. I have already watched this series but it’s so funny and such a good watch I can’t say no to watching it again (and again and again…).

I’m also almost finished with Good Girls. It’s not the best going into its final season but I like the idea behind it.

I also watched the latest series of Celebrity Coach Trip and an insightful documentary on Netflix called Puppetmaster.

I watched 13 movies this month:

🍿 Encanto: a beautifully shot, family focused film with a terrific soundtrack (I dare you not to sing that song!).

🍿 Licorice Pizza: an arty, indie film about falling in and out of love.

🍿 Mother/Android: a bleak dystopian film with an emotional edge.

🍿 Bling Ring: a true-story brought to life on screen, very glamorous but not very memorable.

🍿 Chalet Girl: a cheesy, wintery romance with a great cast.

🍿 Young Offenders: a funny, action packed movie with brilliant characters.

🍿 Babyteeth: an emotional, well shot romance with humour and heart.

🍿 High School Musical: a nostalgic cringe-fest you can’t help but love.

🍿 The Souvenir: an interesting look at life and love as a student.

🍿 Villains: an unexpected hit with plenty of humour, twists and turns.

🍿 The Inbetweeners Movie: a laugh out loud lads holiday with nods to the iconic show.

I posted my February TBR yesterday and am already making my way through the only book on it as we speak.

This month, I read four books: Stepping Up, What Might Have Been, Impossible and One Italian Summer (I finished this one after I published this post so it definitely counts as a January read!).

As well as Music Mondays , I’ve been listening to the latest album from Miles Kane and this track from Peaness.

So that’s my January wrap up! What did you get up to this month? Let’s chat 💬.
