Monthly Wrap-Up: April

We’ve (almost) made it through another month 🎉. This month, I completed the Sound City Training course (from which I’ve taken a new appreciation for music as well as met, albeit on Zoom, likeminded people – plus it really has only made my passion for music, and writing about it, grow), enjoyed lots of gigs and I started a new role at work which — at least at the moment —- I’m enjoying.

I was in a bit of a rut last month, as my time with someone I cared for a lot more than I anticipated I would came to an end, but I think I’m out of it now. Like I vowed to last month, I’m going to get the best out of May. I’m also going to get back into blogging as I’ve neglected it for longer than I wanted to. So, for anyone hoping I stopped annoying them via the internet, I’m afraid this isn’t it for JenRoseWrites.

I watched a little bit of TV and a few movies this month. I caved and watched the second series of Bridgerton, which I enjoyed (but, admittedly not as much as the first one!). I also watched Life After Life, which was fascinating and heartbreaking in equal measures.

In terms of movies, I started the month by watching a movie I probably hadn’t watched since I was near the protagonist’s age, 17 Again. I then enjoyed/got slightly confused by Windfall. After a day of drinking with my family, I watched one of my favourite films of all time Shaun of the Dead. I rounded the month off by watching Step Brothers and the absolute cringe fest that is Monte Carlo.

I had a great month where books are concerned, getting through 7! I finished the Kiss Quotient series, read Tell Me Everything (the upcoming release from Laura Kay, author of The Split ), read two Laura Jane Williams books (The Wrong Suitcase and Thd Love Square) and my first Sophie Cousens release Just Haven’t Met You Yet and I rounded my month off with the upcoming release from Lauren Ho, Lucie Yi Is Not a Romantic.

*reviews of these, and other reads, will be coming on the blog soon.

As the Sound City course fell on Mondays, I absolutely slacked where Music Mondays and the newer First Play Fridays posts were concerned (I promise, they’ll be back soon!). I’ve enjoyed a lot of new, and old, music this month including the latest album from Blossoms and this tune from Billy Nomates.

So that’s another wrap up done! Don’t forget to check out my previous wrap up posts and follow the blog and socials to keep up to date with all things Jen Rose Writes!
